Prince William returned to his job as a search and rescue pilot Tuesday and Her Royal Highness, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge returned to hers - taking care of home, hearth, and husband on the island of Anglesey, in North Wales.
Here she is pushing a grocery cart to the return, having finished shopping and loading her own car. If it wasn't for her striking good looks, the giant sapphire on her left hand, the Audi A3, and the three bodyguards watching her every move, she'd be indistinguishable from any other young military wife.
Well, perhaps not every other young military wife but you know what I mean. This down-to-earth- quality is one of the reasons the public has taken such a shine to the young couple who, just in case you just woke-up from a coma or spent last week on the moon, were married just a few days ago... sigh.
The new duke and duchess plan to combine royal duties with the regular kinds of responsibilities all young couples assume as they establish a life together. Catherine will not take on full-time solo royal duties for some time, while William shows her the ropes and eases her into the new role. I hope they manage to find the space and privacy they desire.
Apparently, the couple are modelling these first years as newlyweds on the Queen and Prince Philip, who spent two years on the Mediterranean island of Malta where Philip was a member of the Royal Navy from 1949 to 1951. .
Queen Elizabeth has said this was one of the happiest periods of her life. I hope their time on the Isle of Anglesey is just as happy a time for the newest royal newlyweds.
